Sophomore Alexis Waltz joined with her partner Annika Layton to win both of their matches against 2024 CCCAA Playoff team Monterey Peninsula. Waltz, who earned all-WSC honors on the hardwood last fall, joined Layton to help the Cougars win the first match, 3-2, by sweeping their sets, 22-20 and 21-18. The host Lobos came storming back in the next round to split. Monterey Peninsula dominated the nightcap with a 4-1 victory; however, they were unable to get past Waltz and Layton. In that match, the Lobos took the first set, 21-18, but Cuesta closed it out after earning a decisive victory in the in the second set, 21-13, and carrying the momentum into the tiebreaker, 15-13. Waltz, who earned all-Conference indoors in the Fall, currently leads the Cougars with a 4-1 match record this season.
