Cuesta Beach Volleyball completed its second regular season with a 6-16 record overall and a 2-10 mark in the Western State Conference. The Cougars improved by two victories during their sophomore season and remain a program on the upswing. Last week the Cougars split a pair of matches against Santa Barbara and Glendale to end their regular season. The Cougars took a loss against the Santa Barbara City Vaqueros, 4-1 but returning all-WSC Beach Player Bailey Woodside was joined by Cayley Brown to post Cuesta's sole victory at the top spot (19-21, 21-15, 15-12). Brown and Woodside picked up their third and fourth wins since were paired together as the Cougars' #1-pair three weeks ago. The duo picked up their second victory of the day, when Glendale forfeited their entire ladder in the nightcap. The #1 spot, where they are 10-12 on the year, has been the Cougars' most successful position this season. Woodside has posted nine wins at #1, including four wins with Brown and five with Emma Watkins, who is currently on injured reserve. Cuesta current #2 pairing of Amelie Lo Jocano and Brynn Bennett also have a win at #1. Lo Jocano and Woodside, who have never paired together, are ranked one-two on the Cougars' all time win list with 15 and 14 career wins, respectively.
The Cougars shall play in the 2025 Western State Conference Pairs Tournament this Friday (10 AM) and Saturday (10 AM) at Moorpark College.
