Cuesta Beach Volleyball's #1 pair of Brynn Bennett and Cayley Brown opened the season with three wins in their first four matches, including a trio of two-set sweeps. The Cougars opened the season with a double-dual at Mt San Antonio. Bennett and Brown swept the Mounties top squad, 21-14 and 21-18, however the Cougars were edged as a team, 3-2. In the other end of the twinbill, Cuesta swept El Camino, 5-0, which included another win for Bennett and Brown, 21-19 and 21-11. The Cougars kept their winning streak alive the next week in Santa Cruz, as Bennett and Brown opened the competition with a sweep of San Mateo, 21-13 and 21-10. The win set the tone for the team and Cuesta picked up a second straight team sweep, 5-0. In their final match of January, Cuesta's Sand-Spikers met their host, Cabrillo, a 2025 CCCAA Playoff team. The host Seahawks took four of the five matches on the day, while only falling in a tiebreaker at #3. Bennett and Brown lost their first match of the season, after losing the opener, 14-21, and getting edged in the clincher, 17-21.
The Cougars are 2-2 as a team and will not play at home until the end of February. They will begin Western State Conference play on March 6.
