Cuesta Baseball Falls to Pierce, 15-6, to Close the Week
Cuesta Baseball, the defending Western State Conference Champions, opened the 2026 schedule by winning eight of their first ten games against the circuit, but have tumbled out of first place after losing five straight against the circuit.  Today, Los Angeles Pierce completes a series sweep against the Cougars with a 15-6 win.  The visiting Brahmas out-hit the Cougars, 12-10, but were able to turn those hits in two runs as the Cougars stranded twice as many baserunners (14-7). Freshman Outfielder Gavin Colombo (pict) joined Pierce's Second Baseman Christian Santiago as they each collected a game-high three hits in the game. The Brahmas tacked up three runs in each of the first three innings for an early lead, 9-1, while adding another big inning to put the game out of reach with six more runs before the stretch.  Returning all-WSC 1st Teamers AJ Martinez and Makani Nabarro each had two hits in the game and joined Columbo to claim seven of the Cougars' 10 hits on the day, while Martinez also drove in a game-high three runs.  The loss dropped the Cougars to 16-15 overall and 8-7 against the Western State Conference.

Cuesta will continue its first swing through the WSC circuit next week with a three-game series against Moorpark.  The Cougars shall host the Raiders on Tuesday (2 PM) and Saturday (1 PM), while also playing in Morpark on Thursday (2 PM)
