Cuesta Men's Track & Field Sends Six to the Regional Finals
Cuesta Men's Track & Field has qualified six competitors for the 2025 CCCAA Regional Finals this Saturday (Noon) at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.  Two-time CCCAA State Cross Country Champion Weston Greenelsh returns to the championship field to earn a fourth 3C2A State Title.  Last Spring, Greenelsh won a the 5,000-meters, while taking the Silver in the metric mile (1,500m), but this year he has also had some competition from his lane mate Anthony Frere.  Frere turned it on midway through the cross-country season and has joined Greenelsh as a title threat.  He currently owns the Cougars fastest time of the season in both the 800 and 1,500-meters runs, while also posting an all-Time Cuesta Top 10 mark in both events.  Greenelsh will also have a running partner in his longer events.   The Cougars do not tout as much depth in the field events but do boast some quality.  Freshman Long Jumper Zayne Ellison (45-0.25) and Javelinist Heath Jones (174-1) rank 6th and 10th all-time at Cuesta in their events, respectively, while multi-talented Alexander Oldham returns to the Regional Finals for the second straight season.  Oldham is a versatile athlete, who owns the Cougars' top mark in five events this season, however he has decided to concentrate on the 400-hurdles and the High Jump.  He has cleared 6-2 in the High Jump this season, while his 400-hurdle time of :55.08 ranks 8th all-time at Cuesta.  Decathlete Matthew Taylor has developed into the Cougars' top Pole Vaulter and has advanced to the Regional for the event.

The 2026 3C2A State Championships are scheduled for May 15 and 16 at Mt San Antonio in Walnut.
