Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for October is Sophomore Driver Oliver Finley
Returning all-State selection Oliver Finley helped power Cuesta's poloists to another conference title and a playoff berth with his fantastic all-around play during the month of October. The South African dished out a team-high 23 assists and scored 23 goals on his own to help contribute to a team-high 45 goals in October. Finley was also second on the team with 15 steals over the month, while also setting up the Cougars' power-play by earning a dozen exclusions to help the offense. He also joined teammates Austin Majus and Andonis Petroutsas as they all became the members of the Cougars' Century Club with over 100 career goals. He also moved up to 6th all time with 84 career assists, which puts him in range of another, and more exclusive, centennial mark and the opportunity to become the 5th Cuesta player ot reach 100 career assists, as well as the third to reach double-digits in both categories.
The Cougars kicked off November by claiming the 2024 Western State Conference title and reached the playoffs for the 44th straight year.
