Cuesta Men's and Women's Water Polo have not missed a post-season since the pandemic, in fact, other than that one-year break, the men have not missed a posted season since the program began in 1979.  This weekend the Cougars travel to Southwestern College in Chula Vista for the 2025 Southern California Regional Tournament, with the Top 4 teams advancing to the 2025 3C2A State Championships to meet the ranking quartet from the Northern Regional. 

 

Cuesta's men have reached the State Championships in two of the past three seasons but had their run of five-straight conference titles snapped by tournament host Ventura.  The Cougars are seeded 8th in the regional and shall open against fellow Western State Conference for #9-seed Los Angeles Valley in the first round on Thursday (10 AM).  The Cougars beat the Monarchs, 15-13, in their only meeting this season and the winner shall advance to play top-seeded Golden West in the Quarterfinals on Friday (10 AM) with a State Tournament berth on the line.  

 

The women earned their seventh straight playoff berth, after dropping the Western State Conference title game to Santa Barbara City.  The Cougars and Vaqueros are joined by fellow member Los Angeles Valley to give the circuit three teams in the mix. Cuesta shall open post-season play against #11-seed Palomar, which shall enjoy a much shorter commute to the game from nearby San Marcos.  The Cougars beat the Comets, 13-12, in their only meeting of the season at the Mt SAC Tournament on September 27.  The winner shall advance to face #3-seed Orange Coast on Friday Night (6:45).
