Cuesta Softball ended the 2026 season on a high note with a 19-5 victory over Santa Monica but unfortunately missed out on postseason play. The Cougars ended the year with a 13-24 record and finished 4th in Western State Conference with a 5-7 record. Head Coach Jenel Guadango's squad racked up seven All-WSC selections and two All-State selections.
Third Baseman Addy Finegan etched her name all throughout the Cougars' single season and career leaderboards in 2026, while earning WSC Player of the Year honors and making the All-State team. Finegan followed up an All-WSC First Team selection her freshman year by leading the entire state with a 1.210 slugging percentage and launching a state-leading 22 home runs, which would have broken the career home run record for the Cougars by itself. Her 63 RBI's and .571 on base percentage also rank 2nd all-time in a season. Top cap her career, she broke Reese Tartaglia's career record for RBI with 92, while her .951 slugging mark is second all-time
Outfielder Cierra Cloud joins Finegan on the All-State squad, making it as part of the All-Southern team while earning her first All-WSC nod on the First Team. She patrolled centerfield Cloud and barely edged out Finegan for the team batting title (.516 vs .513) and finished fifth in race for the 3C2A State Batting Crown. Her team leading nine triples set the new single season record for Cuesta breaking Bre Ojalla mark set in 2014. All of her triple slash marks .516/.567/.905 are all top-five in a single season for the Cougars.
Shortstop Abbey Jones was a staple at the top of the lineup during her first year at Cuesta, and rounds out the All-WSC First Team selections. She was responsible for igniting the offense and getting on base for Cloud and Finegan to help them combine for 111 RBI's. Jones slugged five home runs to go along with eight doubles and a triple while leading the team with a painful six hit by pitches.
Two-way player Georgia Wilson and catcher Brielle Burt earned All-WSC Second Team Honors. Wilson finished with a 4-3 record in the circle as part of the 1-2 punch the Cougars employed, but did a lot of damage at the plate. She racked up 28 hits with a .326 batting average while also swiping a bag. Burt made the jump from being an honorable mention last season with 28 RBIs and swatting nine homers that only trailed Finegan on the team.
First baseman Sophia Edwards and pitcher Shelbi Griffith earned All-WSC honorable mentions. Edwards hit .274 with five extra base hits and collected Cuesta's lone save of the season. Griffith was the workhorse of the Cougars pitching staff, collecting nine wins and completing 14 of her 21 starts.
