In 2002 the Cuesta Athletic Department established and named the Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete Award in recognition of former Cuesta Athletic Director Warren Hansen's 36-year commitment to academic excellence. A Hansen Award winning student must maintain a 3.5 GPA and is also nominated based on their citizenship and athletic performance. This year's winner of the Female Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete Award is All State Softball Player Addy Finegan
A two-year Starter for Cuesta Softball, Finegan was named honored as the 2026 Western State Conference Player of the Year and selected to the 2026 All-State First Team. She is only the third Cuesta player to repeat on the all-WSC First Team over the past decade. Finegan also set a Cuesta Record, while leading the 3C2A with both 22 home runs and a 1.210 slugging percentage during the regular season, while also nabbing the Cougars' career mark for home runs, runs batted in and Slugging Percentage.
Away from the diamond, Finegan earned all-WSC Academic team during both of her seasons of competition. She has completed 59.0 units with a 3.9 grade-point average over her two complete years at Cuesta College. Addy shall represent Cuesta at the Conference and State level as Cuesta College's CCCAA Women's Scholar Award nominee. Her nomination will move forward to the conference level in September.
Cuesta has earned more CCCAA Scholar-Athlete Awards than any other community college. Cuesta's 2025 Hansen Scholar-Athletes of the Year, included Finegan's former teammate Hailey Hallford and Track & Field Athlete Cal Corn (California), were both named to the 2024-25 CCCAA State Honor Roll (Top 15 in the State).
