Cuesta Women's Basketball completed their recent three-game homestand with a victory over visiting Bakersfield, 62-46. The Cougars, now 7-6, and the Renegades played even in the first quarter, 8-8, but the Cougars pulled away with a 21-8 advantage in the second quarter and never looked back.
Cuesta entered the second half with a 13-point lead, 29-16, and were able to ward off the Renegades' halftime time adjustments. Bakersfield cut the Cougars' lead to 10-points early in the third quarter; however, the Cougars rallied down the stretch and handed the Renegades, now 8-4, their worst loss of the season. Cuesta Sophomore Forward Fiona Durham posted game-highs with 17 points, three assists and four blocked shots, however her eight rebounds were one carom short of teammate Kiera Taylor's game-high nine boards. Freshmen Kinzie Amer and Charlotte Hasson also scored in double-digits for the Cougars with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Sophomore Forward Diamond Brownlee led Bakersfield with both 12 points and seven rebounds.
Next week, the Cougars are on the road for two days in Southern California. On Thursday (6 PM), they face El Camino College in Torrance, before continuing South to meet Santa Ana on Friday (3 PM). Cuesta's Cagers shall finish their December schedule back at Stork Gym, when Siskiyous comes to SLO on the 20th (1 PM). After battling their foes from Weed, the Cougars shall enjoy a three-week scheduled bye, before opening their 2026 Western State Conference schedule. Cuesta will open WSC play by hosting local rival Allan Hancock on January 10 (3 PM) for a men's and women's doubleheader.
