One Quarter Costs Cougars Against Bulldogs, 59-53
Cuesta Women's Basketball has reached the post-season the each of the past two seasons but is still trying to get its feel this season.  Tonight, the Cougars hosted local rival Allan Hancock and had their way with the Bulldogs in the first, before the intermission, 32-22.  In the third quarter, the Bulldogs' halftime adjustments had their rivals in fits.   Cuesta double-digit lead evaporated, while adding only four points in the quarter, including a three-pointer by Charlotte Hasson Cuesta adjusted and outscored the Bulldogs in the final period, however despite winning three of the four quarters, did not overcome the Allan Hancock's third quarter burst, 21-4. The Bulldogs' big quarter marked the 7th time, over 18 games and 72 quarters, that the Bulldogs have enjoyed a 20-point quarter this season. The loss dropped the Cougars to 0-1 in the Western State Conference and to 9-8 on the season.  Sophomore Forward Fiona Durham led the Cougars with 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Hasson added a dozen points to the Cougars' cause.  The Cougars are currently 9-8 this season and and have enjoyed more than two wins in a row during the campaign.

The Cougars' Cagers return to action with two more Western State Conference contests next week.  Cuesta travels to play #5 Moorpark on Wednesday (7 PM) and hosts unranked Oxnard on Saturday (3 PM).  Both contests are part of a men's and women's doubleheader, with the men playing first and the women handling the nightcap.
