Cuesta Women's Basketball dropped its third straight contest to open the program's 2026 Western State Conference (WSC) schedule. The Cougars hosted Oxnard, and the two teams were tied, 39-39, going into the 4th and final quarter, where Condors outscored their hosts, 16-14, to cap a road win, 55-53. The setback marked the Cougars' third straight loss to open WSC play and the Cougars' first loss to the Condors since February 11, 2017. Oxnard's backcourt brace of Isabell Moreno, with 18 points, and Rosalin Moreno, with 16 points, were the games' leading scorers, while Sophomore Forward Fiona Durham led the Cougars with 13 points. The loss dropped the Cougars to 9-10 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Cuesta continues its first swing through the Western State Conference with two more games against the loop next week. On Wednesday (7 PM), the Cougars travel to Ventura to face perennial powerhouse Ventura. Last season, the Cougars broke the Pirates' 30-year winning streak (1995-2025) over the Cougars, and another win over the Pirates would officially start a Cuesta winning-streak against the Bucs. Cuesta shall remain on the road for the week and also play at LA Mission in Sylmar on Saturday (1 PM).
