Cougars Fall Short Against Ventura in a Showdown of Stars, 58-48
Cuesta hosted longtime nemesis and rival Ventura College, and tonight the two teams remained neck-and-neck, before the visiting Pirates pulled away to win, 58-48.  Only three players scored in double-digits in the game, and the Bucs' Star Riannah Lopez led the way with 27 points: while accounting for almost half of her team's points.  Cuesta Forwards Kinzie Amer and Fiona Durham also lit up the scoreboard as they to combined to score 32 of the Cougars 48 points. Amer scored an efficient 20 points to lead the Cougars, while going 10-for-13 from the floor, while Durham added a dozen points to Cuesta's effort.  The Cougars jumped out early and took a 14-12 lead in the first quarter and trailed by a basket going into the final period.  Down the stretch, the Bucs pulled away by scoring five of their 11 three-pointers and five of their nine frees throw in the 4th quarter.  Cuesta scored more baskets in the game, 21-to-19, but went 2-for-14 from the "bonus line" and 4-for-11 from the "charity stripe".  The Cougars are now 11-15 on the season, with two games remaining on the season.

Cuesta has moved their final home game and will now host Los Angeles Mission on Tuesday (5 PM).   Cuesta's Cagers shall close the season at Santa Barbara City on Friday (7 PM).
