Cuesta Women's Soccer hosted Sacramento City College for its 2025 season debut. The Cougars, under the leadership of new Coach Paige Johnson, came out strong in the first half and entered the intermission knotted with a goal apiece, 1-1. The Panthers scored first, about 33 minutes into the contest, but, just a few moments later, Cuesta Freshman Derby Coykendall (Arroyo Grande HS) netted the equalizer off a pass from Lily Ferra (Arroyo Grande HS) to even the game. In the second half the Panthers, in their fourth game of the season, closed strong and pulled away with three goals in the final 17 minutes of the contest and clinched the victory, 4-1. Cuesta Goalkeepers Kennedy Lyman (Grass Valley: Bear River) and Shae Mansfield (Atascadero HS) split time in the nets and each corralled six blocks for the Cougars. The Cougars are 0-1 on the season.
The Cuesta Kickers have almost a week off, before they are back in action against Taft. Cuesta shall play their fellow Cougars in Taft next Friday, September 5th at 3 PM.
