Women's Soccer Falls to #13 Santa Barbara, 3-0

Women's Soccer Falls to #13 Santa Barbara, 3-0

Cuesta Women's Soccer hosted #13 Santa Barbara City for a Western State Conference and battled their ranked foes from whistle to whistle.  The match was scoreless for most of the first half; however, the Vaqueros were able to break the scoreless tie 27 minutes into the game and carried a one goal lead into halftime.  The Cougars' defense, led by Goalkeeper Julianna Rosa regrouped during the intermission and locked down the nets until late in the second half, while Rosa matched her season-high with a dozen saves.  Santa Barbara eventually broke through with the game clincher in the 67th minute and topped off their scoring with another goal with two minutes to play.  The loss, 3-0, dropped the Cougars to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in the Western State Conference.

The Cuesta Kickers continue their homestand this Friday (4 PM), when the Moorpark Raiders come to San Luis Obispo.  The Raiders, like Santa Barbara, reached the CCCAA Playoffs last season, although they were knocked out in the first round. Moorpark is currently a half-game ahead of Cuesta in the conference standings, after earning a tie against Santa Barbara last week.
