Cuesta Women's Soccer Unleashes the Offense Against Oxnard, 5-1
Cuesta Women's Soccer exploded for a season-high five goals in a victory over Oxnard, 5-1.  The Cougars, who also beat the Condors last month in Oxnard, 3-0, scored three times in the first half and added two more, before Oxnard cashed in its parting gift in the 66th minute.  Freshman Forward Derby Coykendall scored both Cuesta's first and fifth goal, while boosting her season goal total to a team-best six winners.  She also paces the team-with 15 total points on the season, which is tied for the most by a Cuesta player since 2021.  Freshmen Taylor Nevarez, Lily Ferra, and Lucia Puentes also got in on the action as they each scored their first collegiate goal in the contest, while Hailey Westcott boosted her team-leading assist total to four.  In the nets, Sophomore Shae Mansfield took the win, after nearly 70 minutes of scoreless action in the nets, before handing the defense off to Freshman Keeper Kennedy Lyman.  Lyman stopped four shots from the Condors, but Oxnard was able to get on the board with their first goal, just before the final whistle.  The Cougars are currently 3-9-1 overall and 2-5-1 in WSC play.

Cuesta's Kickers are back in action this Tuesday (4 PM), when the Ventura Pirates come to SLO.  The Cougars will also travel to Santa Barbara City next Thursday (7 PM) for a night game against the 15th-ranked Vaqueros under the lights of La Playa Stadium.
