Cuesta Women's Soccer struck first against visiting Ventura, but eventually fell to the rival Pirates, 5-2. Cuesta's Natalie Hewitt scored the contest's first goal, just before halftime, to give the Cougars the early lead, 1-0. However, the visiting Pirates rebounded, after making some adjustments during the intermission, and tied the game within ten minutes of the resumption of play. The Bucs netted all five of their goals in the second half, while the Cougars added a second tally by Lucia Puentes, just before full time. Cuesta Goalkeeper Julianna Rosa, while under fire all day, collected ten saves in the loss. The Cougars are now 3-10-1 overall and 2-6-1 against the Western State Conference.
Cuesta's Kickers continue their second swing through the Western State Conference this Thursday (7 PM) at Santa Barbara City. The Vaqueros, who are undefeated in WSC play, are currently ranked #6 in the State and boast an overall record of 11-4-2. The game shall be played under the lights at La Playa Stadium.
