Cuesta Women's Soccer battled to the end but dropped its 2025 season finale to local rival Allan Hancock, 1-0. The Bulldogs scored the game's only in the 34th minute and clung to their narrow advantage for the next hour of play. The Cougars launched almost a dozen shots in the game but were unable to post the equalizer. The loss dropped the Cougars to an overall record of 3-13-1 and into 6th place in the seven-team Western State Conference- North Division.
The setback also closed out the program's first season under its third Head Coach since 1995, Paige Johnson. Johnson took over a program that boasted just nine wins over the previous four seasons, while being charged with rebuilding a team with just four returners. On offense, Freshman Derby Coykendall led the Cougars with nine goals and 28 total points, while Sophomore Hailey Westcott dished out a team-high five assists. In the nets, Goalkeeper Julianna Rosa collected a team-high 93 saves, however Sophomore Shae Mansfield was in the nets and got credit for two of the Cougars' three victories.
All-conference awards and other post-season accolades shall be announced at the conclusion of the post-season.
