Freshman Thrower Navaeh Dyer and the rest of the Cougars' Throwing team have been making a run on the Cougars record book. Dyer and fellow Freshman Bella Teresi have joined 2025 All-State teammate Kiera Taylor to form a dominant throwing trio, which has posted five new Cuesta Top 10 throwing marks. Last week, Taylor, who ranks 2nd all-time in the Discus and 4th in the Hammer, tumbled two spots in the Shot Put as both Dyer and Teresi surpassed her on their way to the Cougars' Top 3 in the event. Last Saturday, at Cal Poly's Mark Conover Classic, Dyer won the day and broke the Cougars' oldest throwing mark with a Shot Put of 45-1.5. Dyer's mark eclipsed Lara Newell's Cuesta Standard (44' 3") set in 1993 by almost a foot. Newell, who held the record for over three decades, still remains a single inch ahead of Teresi, who ranks 3rd in Cuesta's Shot Put rankings, while Taylor, who joined the team after playing volleyball in the Fall and Basketball over the Winter, ranks 9th in the event. Dyer is also closing in on Cuesta Top 10 marks in the Hammer, where she is only 4-feet shy of the Cougars' Top 10 for the event. '
