Cuesta Women's Volleyball hosted #13 Moorpark for a Western State Conference (WSC) contest and came out strong with a win in the first set. The Cougars jumped out to a 10-8 lead in the first set and controlled the match until game-point at 24-19, when the Raiders held off the Cougars for four more serves, before succumbing, 25-23. Moorpark kept its momentum, despite the loss, and took over the rest of the match. The Raiders evened the match by winning the second set, 25-16, and jumped into the lead by posting an identical score in the third set, 25-16. Moorpark kept the pressure on by building an early lead, 11-4, to start the 4th set, but the Cougars pushed back. Cuesta put together a 7-4 run to close the gap to 15-11, but that is where the Cougars; comeback stalled, and the Raiders responded. Moorpark ended the set and match by claiming 10 of the last 13 points to take the fourth and final set, 25-14. The loss dropped the Cougars to 9-8 on the season and 1-3 in the WSC.
The Cuesta Spikers are back in action next Wednesday (6 PM) as they complete their three-game homestand against local rival Allan Hancock.
