Cuesta Women's Volleyball currently sits in 5th place in one of the toughest conferences in the State and is trying to crack the Top 20 in the Southern California Regional and reach the playoffs.    In the latest polls, the Cougars were 21st in the voting for the State Southern California Region, however only 20 teams shall be offered a playoff berth.  The last time Cuesta made the playoffs made it as the circuit's fourth place team in 2021.  The Cougars complete their regular season schedule with a pair of Western State Conference matches.  The Cougars host #10 LA Mission on Wednesday (6 PM) and travel to the WSC's South Division to face that division's 5th place team.  Their opponent for the "sorting game" is currently up in the air, with three teams locked in a tight race.  Bakersfield, at 6-6 in WSC-South play, has completed its regular season, however #19 Citrus and Antelope Valley are both 6-5, with one more match to play.  Citrus hosts their divisional cellar-dweller, Glendale on Friday, while Antelope Valley travels to Santa Clarita to face Canyons, who was 24th in the last regional poll.  

 

Last week the Spikers split a pair of Western State Conference road matches last week, losing in a sweep at #8 Moorpark (25-21, 25-16, 25-18) on Wednesday and beating Alan Hancock (25-13, 25-23, 25-21, 25-15) on Friday.  The Cougars are an even 12-12 on the season and 4-7 in WSC-North place.  Coach Whitney Meyer, in her 9th season at Cuesta, earned her 99th career victory against Allan Hancock last Friday and has her first hot at the "Century Mark" this Wednesday (6 PM) against the LA Mission.
