Women's Water Polo Cruises Past Ventura, 17-8, Cuesta Plays at Long Beach this Weekend (UPDATE)
Cuesta Women's Water Polo picked up its biggest win ever, 17-8, against Western State Conference rival Ventura.  The Cuesta-Ventura rivalry has run deep since Cuesta College joined the Western State Conference in 1983 and competition expanded when Cuesta added women's water polo in 1999.  The two teams have often met with conference titles and playoff berths on the line, but this year has been a rare down season for the Pirates.  Cuesta, ranked #5 in the State Polls, made quick work of their foes, who visited San Luis Obispo for a conference doubleheader.  The host Cougars jumped in front with a staggering nine unanswered first quarter goals to put the game away early.  Cuesta Center Grace Kloberdanz scored each of the game's first three goals during the first 98 seconds of the contest.  The Cougars went to their bench but continued to score. Freshman Addison Thomas matched Kloberdanz with a "hat trick" of her own, while eight other Cougars tallied at least one goal in the game.  The win moved the Cougars to 16-8 on the season, while improving their record against the WSC to 3-1.

The Aqua-Cats shall enjoy a bye next week, before powering the final week of the regular season.  The Cougars shall attend Long Beach City's "Battle at the Beach" Tournament on October 24-25, before ending the regular season at the 2025 Western State Conference Championships on November 6-8 at Ventura.  This weekend in Long Beach, the 6th-ranked Cougars shall open play against nearby Cerritos College, where they shall face #5 American River.  This shall be the third meeting of the Cougars and Beavers this season with Cuesta looking for their first win of the series.  The Aqua-Cats second of game of the day shall be against either Orange Coast or El Camino at either 12:40, if they lose to American River, or 1:50 if they win.

Saturday's Schedule shall be determined by bracket play- Battle at the Beach Brackets
