Cuesta Women's Wrestling completed its first varsity season with an 8th place finish at the 2026 3C2A State Championships. The Cougars' five-woman season posted a combined 17-8 record, while Sophomore Aubree Kooren (131-pict) became the Cougars' first All-American for the school's newest official sport. Sophomore Ayten Elbarbary (124), who earned all-American honors as a member of the Cougars' club team in 2025, joined former Cuesta Water Poloist Ana Garcia-Delgado (207) as they both took 5th place- just one spot short of All American status. Freshman Ahlexis Terry claimed 7th place overall with a 4-2 mark, while Ashleigh Terry, the team's season win leader, lasted only three matches (1-2) and did not place.
The Cougars' first varsity season boasted a 4-4 record in duals, despite filling only half of the ten divsions, and compiled a combined 112-51 match record- a win total the men's team has achieved in only three of the past five seasons.
